Helping tweens, teens, and young adults manage anxiety and stress —therapy that includes a nerdy twist.

Scott Foor, Therapist, Supervisee in Social Work, providing anxiety, OCD, and depression therapy for teens and young adults in Fredericksburg and online across Virginia.

Hi, I’m Scott.

I am a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work who helps tweens, teens, and young adults manage anxiety, depression, and stress so they can feel calmer, more confident, and connected again — all with a creative, geek-culture twist.

You might be a parent trying everything to help your child feel better, or a young adult overwhelmed by pressure and self-doubt. I understand how heavy that can feel. My goal is to create a space where therapy feels supportive, relatable, and even a little fun — a place where we can use your unique interests and strengths to help you find your footing again.

I offer in-person therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and online therapy throughout the state, making it easy to fit meaningful, personalized care into busy schedules.I provide online therapy for tweens, teens, and young adults anywhere in Virginia, as well as in-person sessions in Fredericksburg. Virtual sessions make it easy to fit therapy into busy school or work schedules while still receiving meaningful, personalized care.

who I work with

I work primarily with:

  • Tweens and teens struggling with anxiety, social stress, or emotional regulation.

  • Young adults navigating academic, relational, or identity-related challenges.

  • Parents who want to better understand and support their children’s emotional world.

background & approach

I earned my Bachelor’s degree from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and my Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh.

My journey began as a mentor for at-risk youth, which sparked my passion for helping others. From there, I worked in a pediatric psychiatric hospital and an intensive outpatient clinic specializing in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). After returning to Virginia, I joined Prince William County Community Services, where I supported youth and families through their Intensive In-Home Program.

Across these roles, I’ve seen how powerful it can be when young people feel truly understood — and how therapy can be a bridge to hope, growth, and change.

I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients build coping skills, manage anxiety, and strengthen emotional awareness.

But what makes my approach unique is how I integrate geek and nerd culture into therapy. Whether it’s video games, comic books, fantasy, sci-fi, or superhero stories, these elements can help make therapy more engaging, accessible, and creative — especially for young people who might not feel connected to traditional talk therapy.

Through role-playing games, superhero metaphors, and fictional narratives, we explore real emotions and inner conflicts in a way that feels natural and even empowering.

I’m currently working toward certifications in Geek Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to deepen my ability to help clients through both creative and evidence-based approaches.
