Our Leadership

Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection and Thrive Wellness Connection were born out of the passion of two therapists, each with over 20 years experience serving a variety populations and mental health concerns in our Virginia communities.  Our goal is two-fold, to provide a space for meeting people in deep places providing life changing growth and to be a center of excellence for training and development of mental health clinicians in Fredericksburg and throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Beth has been a certified trauma therapist for over 15 years and has had a passion for serving women with issues of trauma and other life transitions for more than 20 years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. More recently, she has been focusing her education and training on couples work and is on the track to become a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist.   She has been supervising clinicians since 2005 and finds great pleasure watching clinicians find their niche and pursue intensive trainings to have the confidence to provide true healing to their clients.

Sarah received her Masters in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for almost 20 years. She focused much of her studies on Attachment Theory and uses this as the foundation of her work with client. Sarah is dedicated to her own clinical training and that of new clinicians in the field. She enjoys practice management and connecting clients with therapists that she feels can best serve their needs. She believes strongly that a strong practice manager can provide the clinical direction needed as clients enter into the therapeutic setting.

Beth and Sarah have both worked as private practice clinicians, in community mental health, and the hospital settings in clinical and administrative roles.  With our mixture of experience, we are deeply dedicated to serving our community as a whole, and are committed to arming clinicians with the skills and tools to work with clients at all levels of need.

Through our commitment to excellence and ongoing professional development, we strive to provide the best care for our clients and to support the next generation of mental health professionals.  We are proud to be a part of the healing journey for individuals, couples, and families in our community and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact on the mental health landscape in Virginia.

Our Core Beliefs and Guiding Principles

Connection

As human beings we are wired for connection. To build secure attachment we practice establishing safety, attunement, and validation in our practice.

Non-Pathologizing

We understand, organize, and heal human struggles at their core and do not take a pathologizing approach to our client’s difficulties.

Professional Growth

We are committed to the clinical growth of our clinicians. We value continuous learning and becoming experts in specific modalities to support our clients most effectively.

Personal Growth

We believe a therapist can only take their clients as far as they are willing to go. Therefore we promote continuous self-care and personal growth among our clinicians.

Curiosity

We aim to be learners rather than knowers.  Being teachable and seeing clients as experts in their situations are both essential for us to work in collaboration.

Thriving Values

Authenticity, humor, generosity, and clarity are important values that add to safety and connection.  These values promote an environment for us all to thrive.
