Start the Process of Therapy

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin. If you’re ready to begin therapy and want support finding the right therapist or service, you’re in the right place. You don’t need to have everything figured out—we’ll walk with you through the next steps and make sure the fit feels right.

This page is the place to start the process of care with Thrive Counseling for Healing & Connection. By completing the secure form through the Get Started With Us link, you’re letting us know a bit about what you’re looking for so we can help determine the best next steps.

This form does not schedule an appointment. It helps us understand your needs and thoughtfully guide you forward.

How the Connect Process Works

We believe therapy works best when the fit is right. Rather than automatic scheduling, we use a review-and-match process to support thoughtful care.

Here’s what to expect:

  1. You submit the secure Connect form below

  2. Our team reviews your request and needs

  3. We match you with the therapist best suited for your situation

  4. If we’re a good fit, you’ll receive next steps and a secure intake packet

This approach helps create safety, clarity, and a strong foundation for the work ahead.

Who This Page Is For

The Connect page is for individuals and families who are seeking therapy and would like support getting started.

This includes those looking for:

  • Individual therapy for adults, teens, or children

  • Couples or relationship counseling

  • Family therapy

  • Trauma-informed, attachment-based care

  • In-person services in Fredericksburg, VA or virtual therapy across Virginia

If you are an existing client or have a general question, please visit our Contact page instead

At Thrive, we don’t believe therapy should be one-size-fits-all.

Our therapists have different areas of focus, training, and experience. Taking time to review your request allows us to match you with a clinician who is best equipped to support your goals, history, and preferences.

This is especially important for:

  • Trauma and medical-related concerns

  • Couples and family work

  • Children and teens

  • Clients seeking culturally responsive or Spanish-language services

Thoughtful matching helps therapy feel safer, more effective, and more connected from the start.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We work with a variety of insurance plans, depending on the therapist and the type of service you’re seeking. When you submit the Connect form, please select the insurance you plan to use. Our team will review your request and help clarify coverage, options, and next steps. We do accept commercial Anthem, Aetna, United Health Care, and Medicare. We are not in network with Cigna or Tricare however, we can work with Out of Network Benefits for these insurances if they are available in your policy. We accept most Medicaid products. We do not accept Aetna Better Health.

Do you offer out-of-network benefits or superbills?

Some services at Thrive may be considered out-of-network, depending on the therapist and your insurance plan. If you have out-of-network benefits, you may be able to submit claims to your insurance for possible reimbursement. It is important that you check your policy to determine the specifics of your out-of-network benefits.

Please indicate your interest in using out-of-network benefits when submitting the Connect form, and our team can help clarify options and next steps.

We do not participate in most Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs). These programs often involve short-term or highly structured models of care that are not well aligned with the depth and continuity of therapy we aim to provide.
