Therapy for Moms, High-Achieving Women, Trauma Survivors & Individuals Navigating Chronic Illness in Fredericksburg & Across Virginia
I’m Sarah McClelland, LCSW, and I’m a dedicated and compassionate therapist who specializes in supporting women—especially mothers—through the many transitions, challenges, and emotional experiences that life brings. Whether you’re preparing for motherhood, navigating postpartum changes, balancing career and family life, or finding your way through trauma, grief, or chronic illness, I offer a grounded, nurturing space where you can breathe, reflect, and feel deeply supported.
Therapeutic Approach
I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from University of Maryland and have spent over two decades working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, and relational distress. My training includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals, Certification Trauma Therapist, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma resolution.
I’ve learned that to guide others toward healing, I have to be committed to my own ongoing growth and self-reflection. This belief shapes my practice — I show up authentically and invite my clients to do the same.
Before founding Thrive, I worked with individuals and families through community agencies and private practice, and I’ve spent years developing programming that integrates emotional healing, spiritual depth, and creative expression.
who I work with
I work with:
Mothers at every stage—pre- and postpartum, stay-at-home moms, single mothers, and working moms
High achievers trying to maintain balance while juggling multiple roles
Individuals navigating attachment wounds that impact adult relationships
Clients healing from trauma, including childhood trauma and relational trauma
People experiencing traumatic grief, including homicide-related loss
Individuals living with chronic illness, with specialized experience supporting clients with Multiple Sclerosis
If you are overwhelmed, exhausted, grieving, or simply longing for clarity and connection, I’m here to walk with you through the healing process.
Background & Philosophy
My path into this work has been shaped by years of supporting women, families, and individuals through some of the most emotionally complex seasons of their lives. I began my career working in community mental health and outpatient therapy, where I supported clients navigating trauma, anxiety, grief, and family relationship challenges.
Over time, I became especially drawn to working with mothers, women carrying high emotional loads, and individuals experiencing traumatic grief or chronic illness, including those impacted by Multiple Sclerosis. In these roles, I witnessed firsthand how much people hold quietly—especially women—and how deeply they benefit from spaces that honor their emotional experience.
My clinical training includes advanced trauma work and EMDR, with a strong emphasis on attachment, relational healing, and understanding how early experiences shape the way we love, cope, and connect in adulthood.
These experiences have strengthened my commitment to providing therapy that is steady, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the invisible burdens so many women carry. My work is trauma-informed, relational, and attachment-focused. I believe that healing happens in the context of safe, supportive relationships—both in the therapy room and at home.
In our work together, I will:
Help you understand the patterns that keep you feeling anxious, stuck, or disconnected.
Support you in building practical coping skills for managing emotions and stress.
Create a non-judgmental space where all parts of your story are welcome.
I draw from approaches such as EMDR, Ego State Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies, and attachment-informed, emotion-focused work, always tailoring therapy to your needs, values, and goals. My style is warm, collaborative, and gently directive—you won’t have to do this alone, and you won’t be pushed faster than you’re ready to go.
Location & Services
I offer in-person therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as well as telehealth counseling for clients across Virginia. If you are a woman who has experienced complex trauma and are ready to take the next step toward healing—I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

Helping Couples Rebuild Trust, Heal Emotional Injuries, and Deepen Connection in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia
Hi, I’m Beth Collins, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Trauma Therapist (CTT) who is passionate about helping couples rebuild trust, repair emotional ruptures, and find deeper connection. I specialize in working with high-conflict couples, affair recovery, and relationship repair through the lens of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
I believe that real healing begins when we feel emotionally safe — when we can risk vulnerability and truly be seen by the person we love most. My work focuses on helping couples move from disconnection and blame to understanding and closeness, using EFT to create secure, lasting bonds.
I’m also the co-founder of Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection and We Thrive Together, where I provide clinical supervision to many talented therapists and offer couples therapy and intensives through We Thrive Together.

Before founding Thrive, I worked with individuals and families through community agencies and private practice, and I’ve spent years developing programming that integrates emotional healing, spiritual depth, and creative expression.
who I work with:
I work primarily with:
Couples in high conflict who feel stuck in painful patterns and long to reconnect.
Partners healing from infidelity or betrayal, working to rebuild trust and safety.
Families with adult children seeking repair, reconnection, and emotional understanding.
Co-parents navigating communication challenges and wanting to create a more stable, respectful foundation for their children.
My deepest joy is helping couples and families move beyond survival into connection — to rediscover the safety, love, and laughter that bring them together.
Background & Philosophy
As an attachment-based therapist, I’m deeply committed to helping couples transform conflict into connection. Drawing from my expertise in EFT and attachment theory, I help partners uncover the deeper emotional patterns driving their distress and learn to reach for each other in new, healing ways.
I approach therapy from a non-pathologizing, strengths-based lens, viewing each person and relationship as inherently resilient. My goal is to help couples use the past as a springboard for change — building secure bonds that shape how they love, communicate, and navigate life together.
My sessions are directive, compassionate, and experiential. I provide structure and safety while helping clients explore their emotional world in ways that foster understanding and closeness. For individuals processing trauma, I integrate EMDR and other body-based interventions to promote regulation and lasting change.
Through We Thrive Together, I also lead workshops and intensives for couples and mentor therapists in developing emotionally focused, experiential approaches within their own practices.
Connect with Me
I offer in-person and online sessions for couples and families with adult children across Virginia through We Thrive Together, and provide clinical supervision and leadership through Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection.
If you’re ready to begin the work of healing, reconnection, healing, and transformation, I’d be honored to walk that journey with you.

Compassionate Trauma-Informed Therapy for Women, Teens, and Families in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia
Hi, I’m LaTroy Coleman, LPC, and I’m a trauma-informed therapist and supervisor who is passionate about helping women, teens, and families feel seen, supported, and empowered. I offer a calm and compassionate space where you can make sense of your experiences, reconnect with your strengths, and begin healing in a way that feels steady, grounded, and deeply honoring of your story.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience, I am dedicated to walking alongside clients as they navigate trauma, transitions, emotional overwhelm, and the challenges that come with both family life and individual growth. I believe every person deserves a safe and supportive place to process what they have been carrying, and I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment where you can slow down, breathe, and begin to feel more like yourself again.
Whether you’re working through past trauma, managing the demands of motherhood, supporting an older teen through a difficult season, or seeking more emotional steadiness in your day-to-day life, my goal is to help you move forward with clarity, hope, and renewed confidence.
Who i Help
I work with:
Women, including mothers balancing emotional load, identity, and relational stress
Older teens navigating school pressures, identity development, and family dynamics
Adults coping with anxiety, depression, and life transitions
Individuals and families healing from trauma, including childhood trauma, foster care or adoption-related experiences, and unstable early environments
Clients facing significant adjustment issues related to change, loss, or relational ruptures
I support clients who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or ready to understand themselves on a deeper level. No matter where you’re starting, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
background & approach
I hold a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2018. Since 2009, I have served as a lead clinician, and I have been providing clinical supervision to emerging counselors since 2019—supporting and mentoring new therapists is a part of my work I truly love.
My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, and client-centered. I believe firmly in your right to self-determination and in the healing power of feeling safe, seen, and supported. I help clients understand how their past experiences shape their present, and together we work to build resilience, emotional balance, and healthier patterns.
I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). These approaches help clients reduce the emotional charge of painful memories, process trauma safely, and move forward with greater internal steadiness and confidence.

background & approach
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Shepherd University and a Master’s in Social Work from Salisbury University, and I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, understood, and supported as they work toward emotional wellness.
My social work journey began in Fairfax County, where I supported court-involved youth in residential programs and later worked as a Probation Officer. Those early experiences shaped my ability to connect deeply with individuals and families facing complex emotional and behavioral struggles. Today, I bring that same compassion and clarity to my work at Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection and as a school social worker in Spotsylvania County.Sarah’s therapeutic style is client-centered, relational, and attachment-informed. Trauma-Informed Therapy for Women, Children, and Families in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia
Hi, I’m Melissa Rinker, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about helping children, teens, and adults navigate life’s challenges with compassion, healing, and hope. I believe that no matter what someone has walked through, healing is possible — and that therapy can be a space where strength and peace are rebuilt, one step at a time.
Who I help
I work with:

Adults navigating grief, trauma recovery, and relationship stress.
Families working to strengthen communication, connection, and support at home.
In every session, I aim to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment where my clients feel seen, understood, and encouraged toward growth.
Background & Approach
I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University. Before becoming a therapist, I spent 18 years as a teacher, which taught me how to connect with children and families from all walks of life and to recognize the courage it takes to grow through difficult seasons.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent 18 years as a teacher, working with children and families from a wide range of backgrounds. That time taught me the value of patience, connection, and creativity — lessons I carry into every therapy session today.
Over the years, I’ve provided therapy in schools, community mental health programs, and hospital settings, allowing me to understand emotional and behavioral needs across developmental stages. My experience includes supporting clients facing anxiety, depression, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), ASD-related challenges, and bipolar disorder.
My approach is trauma-informed, strength-based, and relational, grounded in both structure and compassion. I integrate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and play therapy techniques to help clients learn practical tools for emotional regulation and resilience.
I’ve also completed extensive training in grief and loss, trauma integration, and healing through hope, allowing me to support clients as they process pain and rediscover meaning after difficult experiences. My work focuses on helping individuals and families find balance — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually — so they can move forward with confidence and connection.

Helping tweens, teens, and young adults manage anxiety and stress —with therapy that includes a nerdy twist.
Hi, I’m Scott Foor, a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work who helps tweens, teens, and young adults manage anxiety, depression, and stress so they can feel calmer, more confident, and connected again — all with a creative, geek-culture twist.
You might be a parent trying everything to help your child feel better, or a young adult overwhelmed by pressure and self-doubt. I understand how heavy that can feel. My goal is to create a space where therapy feels supportive, relatable, and even a little fun — a place where we can use your unique interests and strengths to help you find your footing again.
I offer in-person therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and online therapy throughout the state, making it easy to fit meaningful, personalized care into busy schedules.I provide online therapy for tweens, teens, and young adults anywhere in Virginia, as well as in-person sessions in Fredericksburg. Virtual sessions make it easy to fit therapy into busy school or work schedules while still receiving meaningful, personalized care.
who I work with
I work primarily with:
Tweens and teens struggling with anxiety, social stress, or emotional regulation.
Young adults navigating academic, relational, or identity-related challenges.
Parents who want to better understand and support their children’s emotional world.
background & approach
I earned my Bachelor’s degree from The University of Virginia’s College at Wise and my Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Pittsburgh.
My journey began as a mentor for at-risk youth, which sparked my passion for helping others. From there, I worked in a pediatric psychiatric hospital and an intensive outpatient clinic specializing in Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). After returning to Virginia, I joined Prince William County Community Services, where I supported youth and families through their Intensive In-Home Program.
Across these roles, I’ve seen how powerful it can be when young people feel truly understood — and how therapy can be a bridge to hope, growth, and change.
I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients build coping skills, manage anxiety, and strengthen emotional awareness.
But what makes my approach unique is how I integrate geek and nerd culture into therapy. Whether it’s video games, comic books, fantasy, sci-fi, or superhero stories, these elements can help make therapy more engaging, accessible, and creative — especially for young people who might not feel connected to traditional talk therapy.
Through role-playing games, superhero metaphors, and fictional narratives, we explore real emotions and inner conflicts in a way that feels natural and even empowering.
I’m currently working toward certifications in Geek Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to deepen my ability to help clients through both creative and evidence-based approaches.
Location & Services
I offer in-person therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and telehealth sessions for clients across Virginia.

Hi, I’m Cynthia Coleman, a Supervisee in Social Work with nearly 20 years of experience helping children, teens, and adults navigate trauma, grief, relationship wounds, and life transitions. My passion is walking alongside people as they rediscover balance, resilience, and emotional clarity — helping them build relationships and lives that feel authentic, supported, and whole.
My approach to therapy is strengths-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed, guided by a systems perspective that recognizes how our environment, relationships, and community shape who we are and how we heal.
Who I Help

Women who do it all — those who carry the emotional and practical weight of family, work, and relationships yet struggle to care for themselves.
College students and young adults navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, and academic stress who feel overwhelmed or unsure of their direction.
Adults healing from family-of-origin issues or codependency, learning to set healthy boundaries and rebuild self-worth.

My work is grounded in trauma recovery and relational healing. I integrate evidence-based and creative modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), recreational therapy, and expressive therapies.
I see therapy as a collaborative journey — one where we work together to explore your strengths, expectations, and patterns while identifying new ways to approach old struggles. My goal is to empower you to understand your story, discover growth opportunities, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
I often remind my clients: no matter the battle, victory is within reach.

Play-Based Therapy to Help Children and Teens Build Confidence, Emotional Resilience, and Healthy Coping Skills in Fredericksburg Virginia
I’m Michaela Glowacki, MSW, and I am a supervisee in Clinical Social Work who specializes in supporting children and adolescents ages 5–15. I offer a warm, calm, and relatable presence that helps kids feel safe, understood, and ready to explore their emotions through developmentally appropriate therapeutic approaches.
I am passionate about helping young people navigate anxiety, big feelings, school stress, social challenges, and the many transitions they experience as they grow. I believe that with the right support, kids can learn to understand themselves, communicate more clearly, and build the lasting emotional skills they need to thrive.

Children going through life transitions such as family changes, moves, or loss
Parents seeking support and guidance in understanding and responding to their child’s emotional needs
My work focuses on helping children express themselves, build coping skills, and feel confident in managing their emotions—often before they have the words to fully describe what they’re experiencing.
Background & Approach
I received my Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and have extensive practicum experience as a school-based social worker supporting children with emotional disabilities. I’ve worked in both educational and therapeutic settings, giving me a deep understanding of how social, emotional, and behavioral challenges affect kids at home, in school, and in their relationships.
My therapeutic approach is:
Trauma-informed
Play-based and developmentally grounded
Rooted in cognitive behavioral theory
I use a combination of:
Play therapy techniques
Sandtray interventions
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

I strive to create a space where children feel safe to express themselves, explore their inner world, and practice new ways of coping. I partner closely with parents to ensure that progress in the therapy room can translate into support and positive change at home.
I am also in the process of completing the requirements to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), a credential that reflects my commitment to child-centered, developmentally appropriate therapeutic work.
