Helping Couples Rebuild Trust, Heal Emotional Injuries, and Deepen Connection in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia

Beth Collins, LCSW, founder, supervisor, and couples therapist at Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection

Hey, I’m Beth.

Hi, I’m Beth Collins, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Trauma Therapist (CTT) who is passionate about helping couples rebuild trust, repair emotional ruptures, and find deeper connection. I specialize in working with high-conflict couples, affair recovery, and relationship repair through the lens of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).

I believe that real healing begins when we feel emotionally safe — when we can risk vulnerability and truly be seen by the person we love most. My work focuses on helping couples move from disconnection and blame to understanding and closeness, using EFT to create secure, lasting bonds.

I’m also the co-founder of Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection and We Thrive Together, where I provide clinical supervision to many talented therapists and offer couples therapy and intensives through We Thrive Together.

Therapeutic Approach

I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from University of Maryland and have spent over two decades working with individuals and couples navigating trauma, anxiety, and relational distress. My training includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and individuals, Certification Trauma Therapist, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma resolution.

I’ve learned that to guide others toward healing, I have to be committed to my own ongoing growth and self-reflection. This belief shapes my practice — I show up authentically and invite my clients to do the same.

Before founding Thrive, I worked with individuals and families through community agencies and private practice, and I’ve spent years developing programming that integrates emotional healing, spiritual depth, and creative expression.

who I work with:

I work primarily with:

  • Couples in high conflict who feel stuck in painful patterns and long to reconnect.

  • Partners healing from infidelity or betrayal, working to rebuild trust and safety.

  • Families with adult children seeking repair, reconnection, and emotional understanding.

  • Co-parents navigating communication challenges and wanting to create a more stable, respectful foundation for their children.

My deepest joy is helping couples and families move beyond survival into connection — to rediscover the safety, love, and laughter that bring them together.

Background & Philosophy

As an attachment-based therapist, I’m deeply committed to helping couples transform conflict into connection. Drawing from my expertise in EFT and attachment theory, I help partners uncover the deeper emotional patterns driving their distress and learn to reach for each other in new, healing ways.

I approach therapy from a non-pathologizing, strengths-based lens, viewing each person and relationship as inherently resilient. My goal is to help couples use the past as a springboard for change — building secure bonds that shape how they love, communicate, and navigate life together.

My sessions are directive, compassionate, and experiential. I provide structure and safety while helping clients explore their emotional world in ways that foster understanding and closeness. For individuals processing trauma, I integrate EMDR and other body-based interventions to promote regulation and lasting change.

Through We Thrive Together, I also lead workshops and intensives for couples and mentor therapists in developing emotionally focused, experiential approaches within their own practices.
