Compassionate Therapy for Teens, Young Adults, and Adults Navigating Chronic Illness, Disability, and Life Transitions

Brandy Fallon, trauma-informed therapist at Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Meet Brandy.

Hi, I’m Brandy Fallon, M.Ed., a Resident in Counseling who is passionate about supporting people through seasons of overwhelm, identity shifts, and life changes that affect both emotional and physical well-being. I work with individuals navigating chronic illness and medical diagnoses, caregivers carrying quiet burnout, and teens and young adults who are trying to understand who they are and where they fit in the world.

I strive to create a space that feels grounded, safe, and genuinely compassionate—where you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or minimize what you’re carrying. Therapy with me is a place to slow things down, make sense of your experience, and feel supported as you reconnect with your strengths and sense of self.

I believe people are always more than their diagnoses, symptoms, or labels. My role is to help you feel seen as a whole person—your emotions, your body, your identity, your relationships—and to support you in building clarity, resilience, and self-trust.

Who I Work With

I support adults, teens, and young adults, including:

   •   Adults and young adults living with chronic illness, disability, or complex medical diagnoses

   •   Individuals coping with pain, fatigue, medical trauma, or long-term health challenges

   •   Caregivers navigating burnout, compassion fatigue, role strain, or emotional exhaustion

   •   Teens and young adults experiencing anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm

   •   Neurodivergent individuals (including ADHD) exploring self-understanding, regulation, and self-esteem

   •   Clients asking deeper identity questions such as:

      •   Who am I, really?

      •   Why do I feel different?

      •   Where do I fit in the world?

   •   Individuals processing identity, loss, transitions, and change

Many of the teens and young adults I work with are thoughtful, creative, and introspective. They may feel misunderstood, disconnected, or unsure how to express who they are—especially in a world that often expects them to fit into narrow boxes. Therapy can become a place to explore identity, interests, values, and self-expression in a way that feels affirming and safe.

Medical, Caregiver & Identity-Informed Support

Whether you are adjusting to a new diagnosis, living with ongoing medical challenges, supporting a loved one, or trying to understand yourself more fully, I offer steady presence and thoughtful support.

For some clients, therapy focuses on the emotional toll of living in a body that requires constant adaptation. For others, it’s about navigating self-doubt, identity confusion, or feeling “out of step” with peers. Often, these experiences overlap—and we make space for all of it.

Trauma-Informed, Stabilization-Focused Care

I provide stage-one trauma-informed care, with an emphasis on:

   •   Safety and emotional stabilization

   •   Nervous system awareness and regulation

   •   Coping skills and grounding tools

   •   Reducing overwhelm and increasing day-to-day steadiness

I do not provide trauma processing. Instead, I work collaboratively to help clients build emotional capacity, strengthen self-regulation, and feel more anchored in their daily lives—creating a foundation for healing and growth.

My Background & Approach

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am completing my residency toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. My clinical experience includes working with individuals facing complex medical stressors, trauma histories, identity exploration, and life transitions.

My therapeutic style is:

   •   Trauma-informed

   •   Person-centered

   •   Strengths-based

   •   Curious, collaborative, and non-judgmental

I integrate approaches such as:

•   Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

•   Acceptance and Commitment (ACT)

•   Mindfulness and grounding practices

•   Emotional regulation and coping skills

•   Narrative and insight-oriented work

At the heart of my work is the belief that healing is not linear, vulnerability is a strength, and understanding yourself more deeply can be profoundly empowering.
