Supportive Therapy for Teens, Adults, and Families Navigating Anxiety, Depression, and Life Transitions in Fredericksburg and Across Virginia
Hi, I’m Sarah Hastings, a Supervisee in Clinical Social Work who provides therapy for teens, adults, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. My goal is to help you and your loved ones find balance, healing, and connection — even in the midst of life’s challenges.
Who i help
I provide therapy for:
Teens and young adults managing anxiety, depression, or academic and social stress.
Adults navigating transitions, trauma recovery, or the pressures of daily life.
Families seeking to strengthen communication, emotional safety, and connection.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward, my goal is to help you rediscover stability, confidence, and a sense of peace.
background & approach
I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Shepherd University and a Master’s in Social Work from Salisbury University, and I’m passionate about helping people feel seen, understood, and supported as they work toward emotional wellness.
My social work journey began in Fairfax County, where I supported court-involved youth in residential programs and later worked as a Probation Officer. Those early experiences shaped my ability to connect deeply with individuals and families facing complex emotional and behavioral struggles. Today, I bring that same compassion and clarity to my work at Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection and as a school social worker in Spotsylvania County.Sarah’s therapeutic style is client-centered, relational, and attachment-informed. She integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to help clients and families better understand their emotional patterns, improve communication, and build secure, supportive relationships.
My therapeutic style is client-centered, relational, and attachment-informed. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) to help clients better understand their emotions, identify patterns, and build secure, supportive relationships.
I currently focus on stage-one trauma treatment, helping clients establish emotional safety and stability before processing deeper wounds. I also integrate creative, experiential, and mindfulness-based interventions to make therapy both grounding and growth-oriented.
My clients describe me as warm, supportive, and down-to-earth. I believe therapy is most effective when it feels like a genuine relationship — one built on trust, respect, and collaboration. Together, we’ll work toward lasting growth, self-compassion, and emotional balance.
