Therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia

In-Person Therapy in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Finding the right therapist in Fredericksburg shouldn't feel overwhelming — but it often does. There are a lot of options, and knowing who is actually trained to help with what you're navigating takes time most people don't have when they're already struggling. At Thrive Counseling for Healing and Connection, we've built a practice specifically designed to take that guesswork off your plate. Our founders are personally involved in every client match — so when you reach out, you're not scrolling through a directory hoping for the best. You're getting a thoughtful recommendation from clinicians who know their team. We offer in-person therapy at our downtown Fredericksburg office and secure online therapy for clients anywhere in Virginia.

Our office is located in downtown Fredericksburg at 725 Jackson Street, Suite 104, with on-site parking. We're easily accessible from Route 3, Central Park, and I-95, and we regularly see clients driving in from Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George. The space was designed for emotional safety — calm, modern, and private, with a waiting area that doesn't feel clinical.

When In-Person Therapy Makes a Difference

Clients often seek in-person therapy when they:

- Value physical presence and shared space

- Feel more grounded meeting face-to-face

- Are navigating emotionally intense seasons

- Want a consistent, local therapeutic relationship

In-person therapy can be especially supportive during times of transition, relational stress, identity exploration, or emotional overwhelm.

For children twelve and under, we generally recommend in-person therapy. Play-based and somatic approaches rely on shared physical space — sandtray, movement, art, and the kind of side-by-side play where a child shows you what they can't yet say. Those tools don't translate well to a screen. Teens, young adults, and adults do well in either format, and many move between them as life changes.

Trauma-Informed Care Across Our Entire Team

Every clinician at Thrive Counseling is trained in trauma-informed care. Whatever brings you in — anxiety, life transitions, parenting stress, relationship difficulties, or a specific trauma history — you will receive care grounded in emotional safety, nervous system awareness, and respect for your pace and readiness.

For clients who need deeper trauma processing, including EMDR and parts-based work, we match thoughtfully with clinicians who have advanced training in those modalities.

Clients often seek EMDR for childhood trauma, attachment wounds, medical trauma, anxiety and panic, negative core beliefs, or relationship patterns rooted in old pain.

In-Person and Online Options

Some Fredericksburg clients combine in-person therapy with online sessions; others move between formats as life changes. Our team will work with you to find what feels most supportive and sustainable.
